There is a common expression that “love hurts.” Sometimes, it’s not the agony of love but the pain of betrayal that can make the strongest person fall to their knees. One may argue that the easiest part of a relationship is finding the person who you think you will build a life with.
Once that special someone is in your life, it’s not happily ever after every time. It does not even mean that individual sees joy and fulfillment the same way as you do. One spouse may define a happy marriage completely different from the other.
This is the story of a young couple and how the action of one affected the course of their lives. You may recognize yourself in one of these people.
They were happy.
A young couple met and quickly fell in love. They were happy from the moment they began dating.
They joined their lives together.
They quickly realized they wanted to spend their rest of their lives together. After a year, they got married and were excited for the future.
Starting their lives.
The newlyweds decided to start their new lives together in Florida. They loved going for walks on the sandy beach, dreaming together.
Succesfull and wealthy.
The man and woman were both thriving in their careers, making good money.
The perfect love nest.
They furnished their new apartment exactly the way they wanted. They were getting to know the neighbours and were often visiting the popular restaurants in the area.
One Sunday, the happy wife was busy doing their weekly laundry. The laundry room was shared with another condo. When she took the basket home she began to fold the clothes.
Just like any chore, she was mechanically going through the clothes. Folding jeans, t-shirts, socks, and such.
This did not belong to her.
When she was almost finished folding, she noticed a pair of red underwear with black lace peeking under the bed. She knew instantly they were not hers. She assumed they must have clung to her clothes in the laundry room.
The laundry room was shared with their neighbour, a woman who acted very cold towards her but friendly towards her husband.
Her mind began to race.
Oddly enough, a week earlier her husband was home sick for two days while she went to work.

He got her sick.
He was ok to go to work on the third day but his wife stayed home fighting the flu. That day the unfriendly neighbour showed up at her door to visit.
Something is not feeling right.
The wife was not sure why she thought of that when she found the pair of panties on the floor. Was she jumping to conclusions? Did she have an over active imagination?
Let's talk about this.
That night the wife asked her husband about the underwear. He said he had no idea how they got there. He was very persuasive and quickly changed the subject.
Returning what belongs to her.
The bride decided to be a good neighbour and return what had mistakenly found its way into her laundry basket. Her neighbour nervously looked at the panties and quickly said they did not belong to her but something did not feel right.

There were clues all along.
The newlywed started to put things together. There were a lot of calls to the home at odd hours. When she answered the calls, the person always hung up on her. Her husband would disappear at odd times. And there was something about this woman that was bothering her.
Another laundry day.
About two weeks later when she was doing her laundry again she spotted the underwear’s matching bra in her neighbour’s basket. Her heart sank, she felt nauseous.
All under her nose.
Turns out her husband began the affair almost as soon as they moved into their new home. He confessed to other affairs with multiple women. He blamed the extra-marital affairs on the women constantly pursuing him.
He promised a new life.
Around this time, her husband was offered a promotion to a different city. He promised he would change and the new city would be a new start for them. She agreed to go. They sold everything and she promised to meet him there as soon as she wrapped up everything at her job.

Letting go of what she thought was her future.
Her husband called, emailed, and texted her constantly to make sure she was meeting him soon. Instead, she stayed in beautiful Florida, moved to a new apartment, and chose the path of freedom and happiness.
