The Megyn Kelly story is about best laid plans going awry—ironically awry.
Her smarts and strong business sense contributed to her being one os the biggest forces on American news. Not only did she seek to find success as a newscaster, but as an on-air personality as well. All of those hopes were dashed however, when in an alpha- driven and bitter feud, she was driven out in reigning over network news- along with any massive salary she might have earned.
The Murdoch family believed Kelly to be a way of ridding themselves of Roger Ailes and his brand of anti-elite conservatism. However, getting rid of Ailes seemed to do the opposite. Even without Ailes, the network remained a hotbed of misinformation, prejudices, and ultra-elitism.
